Two Days Off!
Feb. 27th, 2012 11:50 pmSo, I have worked 5 days straight (I HATE working Sat, don't mind Sun, but Sat's just suck) and have 2 days off so THIS week, I'm going to finish taxes and Kracken's book.
I was going to do all of that during my mini-vac but was sick instead.
But I was reading a fic that had a person with hypoglycemia in it and I realized something.
I joined this "Food Lover's Diet" at work (everyone puts $20 in the pot, winner take all at the end, and you're betting against yourself, no one else, percent of weight lost) and yes, I was way closer to 190 than I should ever be and now I'm down to 172.4 and loving it. But the point of the story is: you eat. All the time it seems. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack and if you're up late enough, snack. Because you're eating about every 2 hours. And yes, I'm doing portion control and lite snacks and it lets you eat chocolate (so not giving that up) and I'm walking around the store for some exercise (also Tai Chi and crunches and leg lifts -- I really was out of shape, in more ways than one!) But I have not had one episode of my little bit of hypoglycemia that I sometimes have (or hyperglycemia, not really sure which and really, should remember to ask the doc to run those particular tests the next time I'm in).
Not one. And occasionally, it's more than once a month if I forget and don't eat right. Of course, it can also be months between spells. But, almost always, it's about once a month.
But Not One. Since I started this whole thing.
So, not only am I in better shape than I have been in years, and losing weight that I can ill afford to be carrying, but I seem to be keeping the whole hyper-hypo thing at a standstill.
The husband likes it, and I'm going to have to buy new pants at the end of all of this (4/1) because nothing fits.
But really, not being sick and shaky a couple of times a month -- it's so worth it!
