This was a really nice weekend for me. Just for a change.

Sat -- did nothing at all, well, laundry. Does that count? And talked to the daughter, who is back in Okinawa, for over 2 hours!

Sun -- woke up to the fact that the granddaughter was standing by my bed. She was all excited 'cause she was with her daddy and wanted to see Poppa. Mind you, she won't talk to him half the time, but it's never ME she wants to see, no, it's Tom! I'm so unloved...

So, Wendi came out a bit later, Chris wanted to stay and help with the silage and so we three girls went on the Spoon River Drive. Well, to Ellisville and Mt Pisg... umm, can't spell that word... and it was a really nice day and we ate up on the bluff overlooking the Spoon River valley, and I did pick up a nice Christmas plate for Wendi and two bottles with the Cards baseball team on them for Chris for a stocking stuffer. Otherwise, not much that I was interested in buying. Oh yes, bought honey and 3 different kinds of jam! The real stuff!

Then I came home and finished making dinner. So it was a nice day. Lots of sunshine and not too terribly hot. We were able to have the windows open for most of the day, too soon it'll be all stuffy.

Have I said lately that I really really don't like winter?

And a extremely nice way to start the eight days of hell -- five of them at the old store and three at the new. And mostly 2-11's. And we're having food on Fri, I have this wonderful dessert I'm dying to try, and A is also bringing something! Food Food Food! I will be sad to leave some of the people, but not most of the management.

And that was my weekend. Nice.

Well, damn. The boy's home from his emt training with the National Guard, unfortunately he didn't pass the National Register test. Test's always were his downfall. So he goes to Peoria on Monday and sees what they want him to do, maybe a course in Missouri for something or other (know it deals with chemical, biological and whatever warfare, just not sure of real title). That would be better than the idea of going to Afghanistan. Sorry. Do not want. So now we'll have him running around here for a little while.

The daughter is (I think) back in Okinawa. She said that Korea smelled. Other people I talked to had the same comment. But it will be nice to have more than once a month conversations with her. Thank goodness for Skype.

And I'm down to the last five days at the Macomb WM! YEA!!!! I finally got transfered to the newer one up in Galesburg. Only been a year since I put in for a transfer. And, of course, NOW my store decides to hire more people because we are going to the score card which says how many people are supposed to be working. And since we are severely short-handed... The new girl started yesterday and had worked in a wm deli before so it's simply just remembering what to do. So nice, don't have to totally train someone. And since we had a ton of people, we got lots of stuff done! Boil out, took the vents down out of the hood, put new light bulbs in the hood... And then I left at 9. So nice. 'Course, they have me working 2-11 all next week, plus then the move has me working 3 more days so that I'll be working 8 total. I am going to be soooo tired. And grumpy. *whimpers*

Oh well. And so my life goes. At least I have this weekend off...

Rain

Ah, yes, rain. And more rain. And yet still more rain.

Did I say something about rain?

Almost 2" worth so far, and it's supposed to rain some more today. But at least it's my day off and I'm getting my hair cut and maybe, just maybe, I'll finish off the 1x2 that I started the other day and get it posted!

And if the daughter reads this, have you gotten your box and what do you want in the next one? More T Brooks?

And after getting my son and his family settled in Avon, now he's going with his National Guard unit down to Arkansas for three weeks... *sigh* At least I'll get to see Wendi and Allie more often. And after he gets home from there, he has more school (medic stuff) down in Texas. Hopefully while in AK he can get everything lined up and get promoted so that they're getting a little more money...

Well, that was a very busy and noisy start to the day.

The boy was home and got his hair cut, the truck weighed and then with wife and daughter, went to Peoria to sign in and then look for some place to live.

Wendi said that Allie was so excited that she hasn't slept well (if at all) for the past couple of days.

And then, all of this farm equipment went by, probably several million (yes, MILLION) dollars worth of John Deere planting equipment. It's owned by someone down south in IL and they farm all over the state. Tom said that they have a guy that does nothing but hunt for ground for them. Wild.

So, although the day started out kind of cloudy, it's sunny now and nice. I've got dinner going and Tom's mowing and I've had a nap (boy, did I need it!) and I hope that the kids have found out some good things for a change.

Now, if I could just get a different job...

You get one child settled, then the other comes back and you have to start all over again.

I am going to enjoy having the grandkid a little closer, just because we don't get to see her and they grow up so fast at this age.

Of course, I'm not sure how long they will actually be in this area, the boy is going from the army to the national guard and has more schooling to do. As he says, he will have seen all three sides of that branch: the reserves, regular army and now national guard. At least he's getting an education that he can maybe use in regular life.

And all of this from a child I wasn't sure would make it through hs.

Amazing.
