Global warming, what global warming
Jul. 21st, 2008 10:18 pmSo, work has been whacked, not enough people and one of them had her MOTHER call in so that she could have yet another day off. I am not joking. Last week she came in and ask if her daughter could have an extra day off so that she could go to some family reunion out of state... and they gave it to her. And then Mon, too. I want MY mom to call in for me!
And Kay Chemical hasn't been yet, so we're trying to keep up on the cleaning without going totally over our hours... oh, wait... did I say that? I've worked two days of this pay period and I'm already almost an hour over. And I'm not cutting it. Stupid people can just pay me for my time for a change instead of trying to cut it back all the time.
Anyway, today was my day off (and I really figured that I'd get a phone call since we were short). Instead, we had wonderful storms that took all sorts of trees down and limbs off of trees and... MY GARAGE!
Granted it's not the best garage in the world, and yes, at some point we were going to take it down, just not right now! But the wind picked it up and moved it about 3 feet to the west and south, off of the foundation. And yes, I got my car out of it without any problem, and it's a good thing that the husband has left his good car in the machine shed all this time, 'cause I'm not sure how we would have gotten it out, the door on that side is what's keeping it upright.
And we were out of power for 3 hours but compared to some, that's not bad. So, between getting woken up at the ungodly hour of 4am and having a train of a storm go through, then sleeping for a few hours and then doing a little cleanup, and taking pictures of all the damage (BIG trees down and totally bizarre clouds out there today) and finally getting to watch 'The Closer' and I'm still so tired that I could just scream.
And as I told my one aunt, who so does not believe in global warming, weird and berserk storms are one of the signs of it, and we have had some crazy ones.
So, since no one is writing anything I want to read right now, and I can't spell worth crap 'cause I'm so tired, I'm going to bed.
And finishing laundry in the morning.
