I had to use the last of my vacation before my hire date, and so here I am, trying to get the taxes finished, clean the house up a bit, finish up Kracken's book and oh yeah, get rid of the freakin' head cold that I now have!

I'm not sure who to blame for it, the husband (who has been sick since before the last weekend) or the stupid weather that can't decide whether it wants to be cold or warm. Not that I've changed how I've dressed, that's always a disaster if you do that in the middle of winter.

So even though today is Valentine's Day, we did nothing. I did cook lunch (most of mine went into a container and I'll eat it Fri when I go back to work -- for one day before having Sat off!) and then I had a nap upstairs where it was nice and quiet.

But at the moment, breathing is an issue (as in, I can't) and thinking is almost painful. So I'm thinking that nothing much is going to be happening until I get by the worst of this.

At least I can relax and not worry about not going to work.

Because it's so dry (and fairly warm) everyone who still had field work has been out and about and are also burning out ditches and waterways and now I have a headache from hell. The husband doesn't smell it, all I could think each time I woke up last night was, I wish it would rain and get all this crap out of the air.

I also had my annual review at work yesterday. Whoopie. Same ol', same ol'. Although, I did entertain my zsm when I said that I was trying for being more honest for the year (actually, he put his hand over his eyes and said, "Oh God." snicker) Took 45 min to go through all the bs that the asst mang wanted to talk about (10-15 for the eval) but since I was doing the whole honest thing, I could say stuff and not get in trouble for it! So, come Feb 20, I get a whole 40 cent raise, 'cause the only way anyone is getting 60 cents is if they save the life of the store mang. I did make the comment later to co-workers that I had gotten a 60 cent once, but it was because my asst mang was scared of me. (Really! She had the co-mang of the store give me the eval while she sat there and smiled like she was afraid I was going to attack. I kept waiting for her to say something, she never did. Very weird.)

It's still warm here (comparatively) at 35.2 and it's not supposed to get too cold (or snowy) anytime soon. Doing wonders for the heating bill! We could use some rain, but... can't have everything.

So, I thought I was fighting a sinus infection until tonight, when I realized that my jaw on the left side was all swollen and sore and ... you get the drift.

So, instead of going to the clinic tomorrow morning, I'll be going to the dentist to see if I have a wonderful infection or just what is going on in there.

And if it's as bad as what I think it is, I'm going to work and taking a leave of absence. I haven't really slept in like four days (or is that nights?) and I don't look to get any sleep at all tonight (today? yesterday?).

Four motrin at 200 each and it's not touching the pain at all.

Just shoot me.

So, remember the sinus infection a while back? Well, now it's vertigo. And I'm queasy. And it was my whole one day off after 6 straight.

Guess who isn't probably going to work tomorrow.

Oh yes, wm.

Last week, early last week, I put in for 5 days of vacation. The time clock never buzzed at me, so I figured all was well. Then yesterday, my asst mang is all, 'Oh, I didn't know you wanted 4 days off, I just red lined you for the one.'  By now I'm looking at her as if she's crazy (well, she is) and tell her, 'I put in for 5 days.' She just breezes away, saying, 'Well, I don't know anything about that, these are the only one's that were finalized.'

Now, understand, there is still a problem with this. She has me working the rest of the week. So I would be paid for 4 vacation days and then work 3 regular days. Anyone else see a problem with this? And remember, this is wm, the "no overtime AT ALL" place. I would be being paid for 56 hrs of work. 16 of those would be classified as overtime.

So, when I went to dinner, I got on our system and looky there, 5 days of vacation, FINALIZED!

I'm not sure what she's smokin' but I planned this sort of carefully, I have the Fri before off, took Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed as vacation days and then would have Thurs and Fri off because -- Oh, you all remembered! No overtime.  So I could go to WI to visit my parents whom I haven't seen since Aug. And so that I wouldn't have to go to wm for 8 days. And because I have to use my vacation days before Feb 20th or I'd lose them (anniversary date).

So I left her a wonderful little note explaining all of this, well, more politely 'cause she has no sense of humor and doesn't take jokes very well. And I really wanted to apologize but you know what, this wasn't my fault and so I didn't.  I am sorry that some of her skills are lacking but I did try and blame it on Home Office (since she keeps saying that that is where the schedules are coming from, having my doubts now).

It will be interesting to see what happens if I get to work tomorrow... 'course, it's Tues and she's not usually there on Tues...

And it's still winter and really cold...

So today (well, yesterday) I called and got into the dentist because I swear my teeth were going to fall out of my head.

And I really couldn't tell if it was still the sinus infection or if I had a major tooth problem.

Fortunately, still the sinus problem.

So, back to wm to pick up more medicine, this time it was on the prescription program and so the 2 only cost $4 a piece. Thank god.

Hopefully by the time I go back for my regular check-up at the end of the month, everything will be back to normal... I hope... I really really hope.

I'm tired of being sick and tired...

'Cause I'm so tired that I'm going to bed early.

So, having survived the move to a different store (more on that later), and bought a new toy (ipod!), I now have the stomach flu and the store is cutting everyone's hours because of course it's the holiday season and we don't need to be working, no one's shopping... sigh...

Yes, I did survive and I keep hearing about how busy this place is and have yet to see any of it. Their idea of busy is my idea of 'Well, that was a nice rush (of 4 customers). When's the rest of it?' And this store posts double digits on all of it's stats... just not sure where it's all coming from. I worked Sun and pulling into the lot I thought, 'My god, there are more associates than customers!' And they still insist that they are busy all the time! And I'm still getting used to the new people I'm meeting, there is a whole different feel to this place, Macomb was very definitely a college store and this is not. Oh, there are a few college kids, but not like down there. And a lot more preg. women (married and not) then the other. And I'm still getting all the stories from everyone. It is kind of entertaining to hear things about where I live from a different viewpoint.

And yes, with my saved back money, I bought the ipod and then I bought another game for the DS Light. And today I put 3 episodes of Ghost Hunters on the ipod, need something to watch when traveling, and tomorrow I'm going to look at a few other things to put on it. Right now, everything is charging due to the fact that I'm sick and have played Jewel Quest all morning and this evening until the DS died.

And I owe Sunny money...
