And that was a wonderful weekend! It was fairly warm, sunny for the most part and I got to go the cabin twice. The husband went fishing and we went to the gun show and just relaxed the entire time.

I haven't been over to see Sue and Bill for two years, it was really good to see them. Wish I could retire, it would be nice to see them more often.

Sue startled the hell out of us, she's taking the gun safety class and wants to buy her own handgun, the cabin is in an area that has cougars. So, we went to the gun show with her and she looked and held and compared different guns. We didn't let her buy anything, told her she had to fire different ones so she could see how each handled.

But all good things must come to an end, and back to IL we came, and it's been raining here all weekend and I guess there's still a chance today later. Not that we didn't need it, but now that the farmers are trying to get crop out, they would like it to hold off for awhile.

And then I had to work two 2-11's and I'll end the week with a 9-6 and another 2-11. Bleh.

I get to go to Iowa this weekend! And it's all because my stupid work gave me 3 days off in the next schedule and then I was working 9-6 on Fri. and 2-11 on Mon. So the husband could pick me up from work and then on Mon drop me off.

But then, something strange happened. We were looking at the schedule, and I find that I was now working 2-11 on Fri.

I threw a hissy fit.

I check my schedule on Sat from my home computer, and stupid work has us scheduled 3 weeks in advance. And when I checked my calendar, I had written 9-6 on that Fri. So, sometime after Sat, they changed the schedule, but neglected to let me know, or ask if it was all right!

And yes, I did get it all fixed, I switched with one of the deli workers, and even get to leave a little earlier since she works 8-5 but still.

WM is really driving me nuts! And the little mini-vacation will be well worth it!

The pie auction is always a wonderful thing! There are lots of different kinds, some that are favorites year after year, some with stories behind them. And this year, the 32 or so pies brought in almost $2500 for the church! And of course, Bill bought back the cheesecake/golden raspberry one that Sue had made (to die for!) and the chocolate French silk that one of her co-workers made (she takes 1st at the Iowa State Fair in lots of baking/cooking things) and now I'm starting the diet all over.

I mean, really, PIE!

Well, really, what the husband bought at the church auction for me.

It was really nice there, sunny (rained at night! yes!) and not too hot (except in the truck driving over and back) and we got to go to the cabin and see how much work our friends have done on it (building it on their own!).

But the best thing was, the husband bought me things at the church auction! Really pretty things! And hopefully, I'll get this right so everyone can see them.

Bill and Sue's church does this auction every year, and it's amazing how much they get (mostly from the pie auction, more on that later) and this year there really wasn't that much junky stuff, a lot of furniture mostly. And some knicky-knack stuff. Which is where the story begins.

I went and looked at the couple of tables that had the better items and found a real surprise! Japanese pottery! Yes, in the middle of Iowa at a church auction, I found Japanese pottery! Two tea pots and a vase. All made in Japan, not, 'oh look, stuff that looks Japanese but it's made in the US (or China, which I find hysterical). Not sure where or who bought it to the auction, but I showed Tom all of it and made puppy-dog eyes at him and yes, he bought it for me! (Plus two candles in glass containers which I will use as Christmas presents.)

So, now I have 4 pieces of Japanese pottery. So happy!

Yes, indeedy! We're off to Iowa today to go to a gun show and to visit friends! And I don't have to go back to work until Monday!

It is, however, raining. That, I could have done without.

And, in the continuing update on my brother, he had his first drs appt since the surgery and had several small spots zapped (after a full body scan) and will be back in next month for another scan. I'm not sure what they plan to do, but so far, so good. And I know that there will be other treatments, but at least these drs are positive!

So, no internet for me for 3 days, oh well...
