Tomorrow!

I do get to have part of Thanksgiving off, I 'only' have to work 2:30 to 8 - and then try to get out of the store as the madness begins!

And we're having Cornish Game Rock Hens, not turkey, we did that last month before the boy went to Texas. (I've already made the deviled eggs for tomorrow!)

And since we're having part of an early Christmas next month when he's home, we'll have ham then.

Oh yes, I get to have a new crown next month, I've met my deductible and so it's cheaper to do it now than later. Besides, the tooth is still healthy (one of the cuspids broke off while I was eating pizza!) and I'd like to keep it that way. Just 3 more teeth to cap and then I just have to keep everything healthy. le sigh

But everyone have a happy and if you are shopping, stay safe!

Les Mis!

And now that I've seen the trailers and background filming for this, I want to go see it, too!

So far, everyone can sing, and that's a big criteria with me. So, now we have The Hobbit, Les Miserables, and then Die Hard next year.

Sounds good to me!

Wow!

That was sort of fun! I just imported my entire lj over here and it actually worked! (Yes, I doubt everything until I actually try it, just my way, I guess,)

But with everything everyone has been posting, at least this way I don't lose anything. That I would hate. A lot.

I'm still going to stay on lj, but this way I'm prepared.

Not only is there the Hobbit in Dec, now I see that there is a new Die Hard movie in Feb!

Yippee kyai mf! (Yes, I've seen all and own all! And it comes out on Valentine's Day -- you know, take your sweetie to a violent movie day!)

Really.

So, went out to CA and got picked up by the daughter. That was kind of fun, but I really don't like the west, too dry, too beige, too... everything I don't really like. It was interesting, but... as the saying goes, wouldn't want to live there. Seeing the London Bridge was a real kick though, I liked that!

Got home and the asst at wm who was supposed to find people to work my hours... didn't. So when I got called on the carpet for it, I looked her right in the eyes and said that she had said she would get people to cover my hours. (It's my truthful and honest year, I really think that they want it to end, they HATE it) and she said that she would have to discuss it with our store manage (who could hear the whole conversation) and I've heard nada about it since then. I keep hoping that they'll just fire me, I could live on the unemployment and just pay off bills until the state retirement kicks in and then really pay off the bills until social security kicks in. Be a lot less stressful, let me tell you. And probably cheaper.

Then, the boy decides that he's going to Afghanistan with another unit to help with the pull down (keeping track of material, orders, that sort of thing, ALL computer work, thank all the little gods) but it's made for some sleepless nights for me. I can understand, there are no jobs at the moment and this would absolutely pay off everything he owes and then some. But still, third tour in a war zone...

The daughter is going back to school and will start in Jan. She's going for some sort of computer thing (duh) and is actually looking forward to it.

Then I decided to get the flu shot. I always get the flu shot, otherwise I get really sick with the flu. After the flu shot, I usually have the flu for like 24 hours and that's it. Not this year. Chris had been out the weekend before and was sick at the time. I had the flu with diarrhea and running 100 to 101.5 temp the entire time! Off for 5 days from work. I haven't been that sick in years! But hopefully I will have had my share of the flu for the season.

So, next Wed we're doing Thanksgiving because the boy will be over there by Thanksgiving and I would like him to have one good home cooked meal before he goes. So not looking forward to it all...

So, that's the life at the moment, lots of running around and not much else. The whole 'oh my god it's hot' to 'o my god it's cold' isn't helping, either. And we still need rain. Some of the crops are fine around here, some are crappy. The only good thing about the lack of rain, is the fact that the farmers are getting everything out quickly.

But that's the life at the moment, running in circles...

At least today there is sunshine...

Since the daughter won't be getting done with everything she needs to do by Tues, I'm now flying out on the 15th (Wed) and then driving back with her. And when I tried to explain it at work, they were all 'well, we can't cover your hours' and then preceded to do just that. Stupid stupid stupid. But I don't care, I don't have to go back until 2 weeks from today!

So I've bought extra batteries and am now ready to go. Just hope the daughter bought the ticket after I talked to her...

I ate fried chicken from the deli, finished closing, got home and threw up. Sick doesn't even cover it. And I'm never eating any of that food again, it's not the first time I've been sick on wm food, but it's definitely the last! Even now I'm not feeling too well. And tomorrow I will be telling them that our food made me sick.

And it's too hot. 100+ degrees is just too much. There is a chance of rain tomorrow... But every time they say that, it goes north and south of us.

Makes me want to move to the west coast -- Oregon or Washington. At least they're cooler.

So, after talking once again with the daughter, I'm flying into San Diego next month and we're driving back from there.

This should be fun, I've never been that far south and west (been to Oregon) and we'll stop and see the Grand Canyon and Four Corners and whatever else we come across as we drive approx.1900 miles. But I think she's relieved not to be driving by herself (I know I'm relieved about it!) and besides, who knows if I'll ever get to do something like this again.

It'll take about 3 days with stops and since I already have all the time off, I'm sort of excited! 'Course it also burns all of the rest of my vacation but... oh well.

Now I'm just impatient for Aug to get here!

We had a good time in WI, the daughter is back in CA, the son is back in the reserves, and work still sucks.

However, I'm going to be flying out to San Diego in Aug and driving back with the daughter, I have a feeling that everyone was surprised when I said that I just was not comfortable with her driving across 2/3 of the US by herself. Yes, she's a Marine, and 25 and nope, don't care. Still the baby daughter! And besides, I've never been in any of the states that we'll go through, and this way I can see the Grand Canyon and Four Corners and whatever else we decide on!

So, everyone enjoy your 4th, stay cool and safe in this lousy weather.

Because real life just has been totally sucky to the extreme.

Really.

Between family dying, my father "gearing down" (yes, the doctor actually said that, he's 87 and sleeps the majority of his time, but is still well otherwise), my son is still trying to get back into the Army Reserve from the Guard, my daughter is getting out of the Marines and going back to school (hopefully with more determination than the first time she went) and work is absolutely friggin' horrible.

BUT...

This week Tuesday, I am on vacation for 9 wonderful days and the daughter is home on leave, we're going to WI for my nephew's graduation, most of the family will be there and we are going to actually sight-see on our way up and back! (Cave of the Mounds and House on the Rocks!)

So, with some solid sleep and downtime from the horribleness that is wm, hopefully I will be back on track and be more 'present'.

At least that's my goal.

To everyone who's a mom or has impacted on someone's life, just like a mom!

We went out to eat for mom's day and then to the movies. The Avengers was a wonderful blow-everything-everyone-up kind of thing and I enjoyed it very much! By the end of the movie, everyone in the theatre was clapping and cheering, it was great fun. And we stayed until the end... so we got to see the whole premise of the next movie!

I especially enjoyed all the little quotes that each character used, everything from LOTR to Wizard of Oz. And I had to tell the husband the last, he hadn't caught it at all. 'Course, I use the 'Don't make me call the flying monkeys' at work so I was highly entertained! I was ready for entertainment and this fit the bill!

Now, I just have to make it to June and some vacation time...

So today our zm came back to work (he's been off because one of his kids broke her ankle and she finally had surgery) and he ended the Jan 1 to Apr 1 weight loss challenge (finally).

Yes, I won. I lost 25 pounds and I'm still really mad that I didn't measure everything to keep track of how many inches I lost. I still need to lose another 10-15 lbs but I'm happy with what I've done so far. (About 20% of my weight!)

I didn't get as much money as I thought I would, everyone is supposed to chip in $20 and then winner takes all in the end. He was too nice and let some people slide, so in the end some of the people just never paid, and then brushed it off with, 'well, I just didn't do it so I shouldn't have to pay' kind of attitude.

And it turns out that one of these people (should have a wall of shame!) is the store manager.

Hmm, and what does that say about the quality of wm higher ups!?!
